Wolf Opitz is a senior public-sector executive with over 30 years’ experience with complex financial, legal, and legislative issues involving budgeting, technology, facilities and capital planning, legislative relations, public fund investment and debt management. Wolf is currently Deputy Finance Director for Pierce County where he helps lead a team of 200 professional staff responsible for the County’s $1.04 billion annual budget, risk management, and information technology.
Before joining Pierce County Wolf worked for the State of Washington for over 28 years including 8 years as Assistant State Treasurer for State Treasurer Jim McIntire and 9 years as Deputy Director at the Office of Financial Management. Prior to that served in various policy, budget and financial management roles at OFM and at DSHS. Wolf also was a Research Scientist at Battelle Seattle Research Center from 1986 to 1988.
He has a PhD and Master’s Degree in Sociology/Demography from the University of Texas at Austin and a BA in Sociology from the University of Washington.
